Project Description

Moments is a free text-based game anyone can play over the internet using any web browser.

We have designed the game to subtly illustrate the value of personal disclosure and the importance of harmony on a person's quality of life. Players participate by creating a virtual character and role-play through a exchange of life experience narratives with others. The content is shared in a way that encourages non-judgmental validation of emotional disclosure.

The game operates by exchanging player-to-player vignettes called ‘Moments’. Each moment takes the form of a text block written by a player in a narrative style such as diary entry, conversation, or confessional voice. Over time, the written and received moments can mirror personal content from the player's life.

The expression of snippets from one’s life, and exchanging emotionally moving entries from other people, can be a compelling experience. This opens up a unique emotional spaces that people can explore anonymously through a character.

The structure of the game is a self-perpetuating confessional feedback. The mechanics are designed to allocate moments matched to the character. Ideally, a player who writes genuine moments will receive similar content from others.
